New Years resolutions can hold a lot of weight.

On one hand they are motivation to start fresh and gain new perspective. On the other hand there can be a lot of pressure around making them and sticking with them.

Resolutions rarely last because they are most often action oriented. They focus on the ‘How.’

– Do more yoga and meditation

– Eat healthier

– Spend more quality time with my family

And the list goes on

The important piece that is overlooked are the feelings behind the actions.

How do you want to FEEL more often in 2018?

Our feelings guide our behaviour. When we make the feelings conscious we are more deliberate in our actions.

I want to feel more balance, more connection, more peace. When I am aware of the core feelings that are most important to me, then I choose How to orient myself day by day and feel much more satisfied and content in the end.

Danielle LaPorte is one of the first to communicate this perspective in her book: The Desire Map. She says “Knowing how you actually want to feel is the most potent form of clarity that you can have. Generating those feelings is the most powerfully creative thing you can do with your life.”
